Bobby Verdon-Roe

Bobby Verdon-Roe (born 21 November 1965 in Winchester) is a British racing driver who has raced in various formats of motor sport throughout his career.

Racing career

Starting in single seaters, Verdon-Roe came 3rd in the Formula First championship in 1988 and 3rd in Formula Ford a year later. The next two years were spent driving in Formula Renault, a big step up to race in this category. In his first year he managed to consistently score points and went on to win the championship in 1991.

In 1992, Verdon-Roe switched to touring cars with a drive in a Vauxhall Cavalier for the Ecurie Ecosse team in the British Touring Car Championship. His season only lasted half a championship. For 1993 he drove in a semi works Toyota Carina E for the Park Lane Toyota Carina team. His best result that year was a 6th place at Snetterton and finished the championship down in 19th.

After a quiet spell which included a one off race in Formula 3 in 1994, Verdon-Roe returned to motorsport in the TVR Tuscan Challenge. In his first full season in 1997 he won the championship overall and finished in 2nd place the year after. He stayed in GT cars for the rest of his career, switching between the FIA GT Championship and the British GT Championship. The highest final championship positions he has held in this time were two 6th places in the British GTs in 2000 and 2001, with a TVR Cerbera.[1] Verdon-Roe has also driven one off races in the European Le Mans Series in 2001 and the Rolex 24 in 2002. He won the 2009 FIA Historic Formula One Championship driving a McLaren M26.
